I originally started this journey as a quest for a way to deal with my son's moderate to severe eczema when they were little. Capsaicin Salve
Capsaicin is the active compound in hot peppers such as cayenne peppers; the hotter the pepper the more capsaicin the pepper has. When capsaicin salve is applied to the skin (topical use), capsaicin helps relieve pain.
Capsaicin works by first stimulating and then decreasing the intensity of pain signals in the body.Although pain may increase with the first use, it decreases substantially with subsequent applications. Capsaicin works by blocking a compound involved in communicating pain between nerve endings, effectively stopping the transmission of the pain signal.
Capsaicin salve is effective in treating pain from: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia, shingles and cluster headaches.
Caution do not use on broken skin, for external use only.
